About us
Kia & Paul your hosts
We are Kia and Paul, the new owners of Rocklea and are delighted to continue the history of this former croft house as a warm and welcoming place to stay. Rocklea has been a guest house, family home and 'shelter from the storm' since the 80’s and it is a pleasure to be able to offer updated and fresh accommodation, food and hospitality here. We are looking forward to sharing the nature and beauty of Skerries with you!
Kia has 30 years experience in hospitality and catering. She has a lifelong passion for food and cooking - particularly curries - and loves unpretentious, good honest home comfort cooking. In her spare time she loves to crochet and sells her designs from Rocklea as YARNOVR. She also enjoys gardening, sea swimming and riding her motorbike with Paul.
Paul is an enthusiastic home cook with a passion for East Indian cuisine. He self identifies as 'biryani king'. He is happiest sharing his time with people and loves to ride his motorbike. He is also a trained psychotherapist. Together we really enjoy entertaining, looking after people and creating lovely memories.
We live on Out Skerries with our son Stanley who works from his home (on Housay) as a web developer and Kia’s Brother Lea who creates beautiful sculptures and bowls out of stone. You can find YARNOVR and @shetlandstoneworks for sale in the porch at Rocklea and also in the ferry waiting room at the harbour
We are really looking forward to meeting you!
